According to Square Enix, the PC version will require 75GB of space and players with more space can download an optional 30GB high-resolution texture pack if they'd like. This will bring "the richest, highest-detailed visuals throughout the game world" such as lusher forests, more frigid tundra areas, and more sinister AIM facilities.
sleeping dogs high resolution texture pack dlc 12
Graphical enhancements for the Definitive Edition include high resolution textures, improved lighting, particle effects and character models, volumetric fog and higher pedestrian and traffic density in the game world. There are also more destructable objects in the world to make fight scenes just that little more chaotic, and the sound engine has been rebuilt.
Square Enix and United Front Games today release a brand new set of images for Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition packs improved, higher resolution textures, improved lighting, and higher number of particle effects, higher detailed character models, volumetric fog (i.e. fog/smog/mist/steam is now present in the game world), increased pedestrians and traffic density, rebuilt sound engine to heighten realism, more destructible objects in hand-to-hand fighting sequences and all 24 DLC packs have been integrated into the main game. The game has already been released on Steam. Enjoy!
Ubisoft's newest dystopian efforts start strong with allusions to modern-day challenges pertaining to privacy and "cyber warfare," working to build-up our character as a counter-culture hacker. And, as with Ubisoft's other AAA titles, the game builds this world with high-resolution textures, geometrically complex and dense objects, taxing shadow/lighting systems, and an emphasis on graphics quality.
Texture Resolution: With the base game, without texture DLC, this can be configured to Low, Medium, and High. Texture resolution changes necessitate a game restart to adequately apply. Texture resolution impacts the pixel density and apparent grit in (obviously) object textures.
Given Watch Dogs' intensive settings, we only tested 3 cards with 4K resolution. The GTX 1080 FTW isn't quite 4K-ready at Very High settings, but could do it with a settings reduction. The 1070 SC would need to be dropped closer to a mix of high settings for FPS in the 40s. The Fury X isn't much of a contender, here, and stutters like mad with those low framerates.
Higher resolutions are pretty rough. A GTX 1080 FTW struggled with 4K at Very High. You'd ideally want a mix closer to high/very high for quality settings at 4K. A 1070 would require a harder drop, e.g. medium-high.
This texture pack does affect VRAM requirements and the demand for VRAM. For 1080p, High Preset a Minimum of 12GB of VRAM is recommended for a smooth experience. For 4K, Ultra Preset, DXR and HD Textures a minimum of 16GB of VRAM is recommended for a smooth experience. It notes here that Players will receive a notification if they are out of memory and will experience texture quality degradation and potential performance or stability issues.
Ubisoft's most awaited and highly anticipated open world action-adventure video game is just a few days away from its launch, but that is not stopping the impatient fans to find their copy of the game from anywhere possible. The web is full of the leaked media content from the game. Today, we have some very appealing Watch Dogs screenshots in 4K (38402160) resolution taken from final PC version of the game.
The flood of leaks concerning Watch Dogs screenshots, gameplay videos and GIFs started with the PlayStation 4 version of the game and after moving through the game on all platforms, it has now finally turned towards PC version of the game. A few leaks showing how Ubisoft's gem looks on PC have emerged and among them is a pack of Watch Dogs screenshots taken in 4K resolution.
Plenty of games have downloadable ultra texture packs made by the developers, such as Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Watch Dogs 2, Fallout 4, etc... I don't see why this can't be done on GTA V. Due to the PS4 Pro and Xbox One Scorpio, it seems that a lot of devs are making these texture packs.
In technical terms, it wouldn't be very hard to do in GTA V. It would be a DLC that you download. When you enable the Ultra textures, the textures in the DLC pack would override the current textures. I am thinking that it really wouldn't be a bad idea to do this. Most likely, all of the textures in the official release are lower resolution than the source textures. This is true with all of the GTA's. I believe it is how they are able to easily release later versions of their games with higher quality textures. Also, from what I saw when I worked on the Heist Map Updates mod a while back, Rockstar used a lot of lower quality textures in places, where there are higher quality versions of the same texture available elsewhere in the files. So, what my point is, most likely, the original versions of all of the textures in the game are much higher quality than what is in the game files. Rockstar probably has the original textures, so they wouldn't have to retexture the game from scratch. After all, on the PC version, there are graphics settings that go up to Ultra, however Texture Quality only goes up to Very High.
Play Station 4 Pro: The player would find the DLC for the texture pack on the Play Station Store. When they download it, they would be able to enable/disable it as a toggle in the settings menu. A restart would be required when they switch textures (like on the PC). However, they won't be able to use the texture pack unless they are playing on the PS4 Pro. If someone attempts to download it on a original PS4, or a PS4 Slim, they will get a message saying it isn't compatible with their system.
Xbox One Scorpio: The player would find the DLC for the texture pack on the Xbox Live Marketplace. When they download it, they would be able to enable/disable it as a toggle in the settings menu. A restart would be required when they switch textures (like on the PC). However, they won't be able to use the texture pack unless they are playing on a Xbox One Scorpio. If someone tries to download the texture pack on an original Xbox One, or an Xbox One S, they will get a message saying it isn't compatible with their system.
PC Version: If the player has the Steam version of the game, they can download the texture pack via the Steam Market Place. If the player has a physical copy, or the Social Club version, they can download the texture pack via Social Club, or download the installer for it via the Downloads page on www.rockstargames.com. When ingame, to enable the texture pack, the Texture Quality setting in the Graphics menu will now go up to Ultra instead of Very High. Like how it is when you change the Texture Quality setting, a restart would be required for the changes to take effect.
What I really want is the GTA IV remaster. Textures were the only setting that didn't have "very high" in IV, telling me there are some higher quality textures that were never released, and it shows - even the highest setting "High" is blurry in IV. They clearly held back the highest textures, either for a remaster later, or just as realistically, because they knew no one would be happy with the performance back then.
A few random textures got upgraded, while a few others (mostly in the country side) got downgraded. I should also point out that areas used in Story Mode, typically where an interior is, also have higher quality textures.
I haven't searched everywhere. I fixed a few of them in the Heist dlc, but not the ydr files, as at the time, ydr editing wasn't possible. I am not sure where they are around the normal files, where the same texture is used in two different locations, and one is higher res.
But, I bet the textures around interiors are a place to look. Take the brick texture on Michael's driveway for example, or the grass texture for Michael's yard. I have a feeling that those are higher resolution than the same texture used elsewhere.
This is another fix that seems to be working for some users. If you are using the high res Texture Pack DLC then we recommend you remove it for now unless you are using your PC to output to a 4K display. These textures are only recommended for 4K output for now and seem to be not well optimized for lower resolutions. Hence the intermittent crashes on many systems.
